Warnings: One of the minor characters is based on someone I saw in one of the notorious facebook photos. I have no idea at all who he is, but Colin looked so happy and relaxed with him, and I have to love the guy for that. So he became Colin’s ex in my fic. I think I wrote this respectfully. However! If it bothers you that I couldn’t resist going to have a look at the photos on lj, and then couldn’t resist writing about someone who isn’t otherwise in the public eye, then parts of this fic will not be your cup of tea.
Summary: It is February 2008 and the cast of Merlin are meeting for the first time. Colin and Bradley don’t get along at first, but a connection is finally made once Colin comes out to Bradley. Bradley's feelings of friendship for Colin grow and grow until a hitherto straight Bradley finds himself in love with the man. But in the meantime, Colin – who tends to go for older men, and who appreciates a calmer home life than most young people – has set his sights on Richard, even though Richard is significantly older than his previous serious boyfriend. While Richard can’t help but love Colin, he does all he can to resist, knowing that such a relationship would be next to impossible. Meanwhile, Katie is drawn to Bradley and his good heart, but bides her time as she watches Bradley’s feelings for Colin play out.

Notes: See, the thing is… I didn’t even like Richard Wilson when Merlin started, and I’m sorry to say that I actually groaned when his name appeared in the opening credits on that first evening. But that was just a stupid stupid prejudice on my part, and I quickly became enchanted with all the Merlin+Gaius moments in the show, which are actually some of my favourite bits of the whole thing. And it soon became clear that Richard and Colin love working together. Then I was lucky enough to briefly meet Richard in Pierrefonds, and he was everything that was charming and bright. And after I came home, I discovered that Richard is gay and out and proud. Bless him! And I thought he deserved a bit of a reward for that… Hence my first Merlin RPS that doesn’t focus entirely on the OTP of Colin/Bradley. What better reward could I possibly provide Richard than this…? Ahem!
